I listen to the roar of the engine because I love the sound :D

I listen to the stereo because I like music :D

Not sure which one I like best :? There's only one way to find out . . . FIGHT

the radio ON button , also acts as a direct link to the vehicle recovery company

DONT TOUCH IT,

DONT TURN THE RADIO ON, YOUR BUS WILL BREAKDOWN

thats just my personal opinion  I listen to every sound the bus is making, you usually hear the breakdown coming before it arrives (must learn to recognise this and pull over......and put the radio on till recovery arrive)

Engine is so noisy that it's a bit pointless turning the radio on...
I prefer to hear what's going on in the engine bay and listen to the wheels etc etc.....and of course you need to be constantly alert in case something drops off... :D

I agree my engine and exhaust is so loud I'd have to have a 2k sound system to hear it

Like Steve and Grant says listen to the engine for pre catastrophic meltdown warning

Thanks for your thoughts guys!! Anyone else?

I am trying to establish the level of importance the sound of the engine and obviously any other sqweeks, rattles etc from the body. Usually it is in relation to monitoring the vans health...so it would be great to know
if lots of people are very aware of it as also part of the vans personality.

In other words is it more common to be conscious of the sounds or not?

x

i pretty much end up listening to the vehicle as a whole and get to know when someone doesnt sound right, i dont often have music on in the van except when camped up as I like the sound of the flat4 instead. the sound of the engine is an essential part of the character imho which is why I wind the window down through tunnels like a lot of folk I reckon
