Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me about the experience of traveling in a VW convoy (I have
also done it with my van) and why they either don't like being part of a convoy
or love the idea and perhaps join in a lot. Is it about vans, people, showing off to
non van owners/ each other, about individuals who come together but not in a 'community', etc.

in other words...whats it all about ? can anyone expain their experiences etc

xx

Depends how many vehicles are involved

If there's only a few it's a good experience everyone has phones so easy to

Stay in touch, some have CB radios again really handy

It gives a bit piece if mind that should one brake down others would stop to help

It becomes rather dangerous when there's loads involved, the cruise organised from the metrocentre to Keswick

Around 20+ turned up mix of campers and beetles

Someone always seems to get stuck at lights or on a roundabout

One on the duel carriage ways it's not so bad,

I popped a spark plug out coming down Heartside pass

A few people stopped and asked if they could help, one stopped behind me so

No cars would go in the back of me

Overall it's a good laugh though

It's also nice to know that you're not the only one holding up all the traffic...Sort of shares the guilt, and in fact makes it half the fun.

i suppose it reflects your feeling of being within a community, and probably a demonstration to others that you are part of that community OR you are all just going in the same direction to get somewhere OR it makes sense in case someone breaks down.

IMO Travelling in convoy is great over short distances and shit for long journeys!

I don't like convoys. I get shouted at when I get bored of doing 55 then blast off and leave everyone moon :rolf:

I agree with Scott, when there is only 2 or 3 of you the distance is not a problem, however more than that And it can become a bit of a chor :)

Yep, probably the worst trip EVER.
Mind you, it really was a cruise . . . . Remember the floods ? Jeez, all we needed was a few sets of oars and we could have rowed all the way there  :rolf:
