Hi all, just wondering if we have any members with serious engines on here?

Im getting to the point in my build where I need to start thinking about engines.

What id really like is a sub 18 engine which can also be used to get me from A2B generally quicker and more comfortably - maybe even tow a puck.

So..... Which builders round here can be recommended? Im aware of some of the 'proven' builders down south who bare recommended such as autotechknic but would be interested in speaking to someone locally

Cheers

Hi mate

Depends where in the north east you are. Daz Chandler as Aircooled Performance Northalerton is a very good proven engine builder. He'll build you an engine to your exact specification. You don't want anything too nutty if you intend to pull a puck. Fast engines tend to run hot so pulling something can increase load. I have a 2009 with twin 45's, eliminator heads and loads of other goodies ready to go in my 63 bug.

If you live a little further north Gaz Fraser at Fraser Autos in Sunderland could build you an engine to your required spec too. They do my engine work. Very good honest lads.

North again is Jay from Bugshop Newcastle. I think he's closed his business down but may still be doing engines from his house. Again very good guy and builds proven engines.

Hope this helps.

Wayne.

Cheers Wayne, Daz Chandler is a name that keeps coming up so will investigate further.

Who built your engine? Gaz Fraser?

daz has built my 2110cc lump in mt cabby

it does 6000 plus miles a year and is sweet as a nut

it has a mild cam so will drive in town in 4th at 1000 rpm, then down two gears and 6750rpm will see 60mph

top speed is classified, but my speedo has just been modified to read true speed

speak to daz he will build you a belting engine
life is not a practice run, give it some

:) I'll add to this :) speak to Daz- there are other VW specailists that sell engines but when you look into it they were built by daz :)
I've had a T25 that has the tickets from the strip to say it could be a member of BWA bet there's not many diesels in the club :!:
